The Chilean Embassy in China's Agricultural Counselor, Le Fivre, recently stated that with the joint efforts of both sides, Chilean cherries have more and more entry points in China. By strengthening cooperation with Chinese health and quarantine departments, customs, and other departments to simplify quarantine and clearance procedures, Chilean fruits are reaching various parts of China at a faster speed, and "more Chinese people can taste them at the first time.".
In October this year, the General Administration of Customs of China issued a notice on the quarantine requirements for imported Chilean fresh stone fruit plants. In December, the General Administration of Customs updated the fruit admission list, and Chilean fresh walnuts such as nectarines, peaches, apricots, and plums were officially allowed to be imported. "This is important positive news for producers in our relevant regions," said Chilean Agriculture Minister Valenzuela. Given the huge demand for fresh walnuts in the Chinese market, Chile's major peach and apricot producing areas will directly benefit from market access, and major planting areas will therefore achieve greater development. "This reflects the constantly tightening trade ties and deep friendship between the two countries," said Canara Echeveria, General Manager of the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association
The President of the Chilean National Agricultural Association, Walker, highly affirmed the important role played by the demonstration farm in strengthening agricultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. He stated that Chile is promoting relevant planning and construction, and hopes to introduce more Chinese technologies, including vegetable and fruit tree varieties, planting techniques, agricultural machinery equipment, etc. "This will become an important platform for the two countries to strengthen agricultural exchanges and cooperation."
