According to IMF rankings, Brazil once fell out of the top ten countries with the highest gross domestic product (GDP) in 2020, during the second year of former far right President Bosonaro's presidency, when Brazil ranked 12th.
From 2009 to 2014, at the end of Lula's second presidential term and the beginning of Dilma Rousseff's presidency (2011-2016), Brazil's GDP reached sixth in the world, surpassing the United Kingdom.
The world's top 20 economies in 2023 include the United States, China, Germany, Japan, India, Britain, France, Italy, Brazil, Canada, Russia, Mexico, South Korea, Australia, Spain, Indonesia, Türkiye, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland.
