The Tense Situation in The Red Sea Has Forced Nearly 3400 Ships To Change Their Routes

According to Russian Sputnik News Agency on May 14, Usama Rabiya, President of the Suez Canal Authority, said that since November 2023, nearly 3400 ships have been forced to change their routes and have not entered the Suez Canal due to the rising tension in the Red Sea.
According to reports, in March, Egyptian Finance Minister Mohammad Mait stated that due to the tense situation in the Red Sea, the revenue of the Suez Canal had decreased by 50%.
"The unstable situation in the Red Sea has led to 3395 ships sailing towards the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, rather than towards the Suez Canal," Rabiyah said in a speech to the Egyptian parliament
He said that the journey through the Cape of Good Hope takes much longer. He also emphasized that the Suez Canal is an ideal route for international trade.
The Yemeni Husai organization controls most of the Red Sea coast of Yemen. In November 2023, the organization warned that it intended to attack any ships connected to Israel and called on other countries to recall their crew. Several shipping companies have decided to suspend transportation through the Red Sea.
