Lodging is a common problem in soybean production, which seriously affects the yield and product quality of soybeans and brings certain difficulties to field management and harvesting. So, why is soybean lodging? What to do with soybean lodging?
Reasons for soybean lodging
The common reason is that extreme weather conditions such as strong winds and heavy rain directly cause soybeans to collapse. If it is a prolonged period of wind and rain, there is simply no way, and natural disasters cannot be avoided. But some are due to variety reasons, such as high stem varieties that are prone to lodging, slender stems that are prone to lodging, and short and strong varieties that are not prone to lodging. If the soil is too fertile, the plant can thrive and easily collapse. If the planting density is too high, the growth and nutrition of soybeans are insufficient, and the plants are prone to lodging.
Prevention and control of soybean lodging
One is to determine a reasonable planting density and method based on the characteristics of the planting variety and local environmental conditions, and the density of fertile plots should not be too high;
The second is to apply fertilizer reasonably, coordinate the proportion of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer;
Thirdly, timely intertillage can promote the development of soybean roots and enhance soybean lodging resistance;
The fourth is to timely apply plant growth regulators based on local soybean growth trends, weather trends, and other conditions. The main effect of regulators is to reduce plant height and internode length, increase stem diameter, and thus enhance soybean lodging resistance.
