In general, tomatoes are divided into spring tomatoes, autumn and winter crops, winter and spring crops, and overwintering crops based on their planting and harvesting times. Let's take a look at their planting and harvesting times separately!
Tomato planting and harvesting time

1. Planting time of spring tomatoes
The suitable seedling age for outdoor spring tomato cultivation is 50-70 days, which means sowing should be carried out 50-70 days before planting. For example, in the Shenyang area located at latitude 41 north, spring stubble tomatoes are sown and nurtured in protected areas in February, and settled in the open field after the late frost in early May.
Spring tomatoes are usually planted immediately after the local late frost period, when the soil temperature at a depth of 5-10 centimeters stabilizes by 12 ℃. For example, the average late frost period in Shenyang region over the years is May 2nd, and the suitable planting period is generally May 6-10. The Yangtze River Basin is generally planted around the Qingming Festival, in North China before and after the valley rain, and in Northeast China before and after the beginning of summer. There are phoenix barriers, plastic film covers, and sandy land with windward and sunny terrain that can be planted early. Planting should also be determined based on weather conditions. In case of cloudy and rainy weather, planting should be postponed appropriately. During the appropriate planting period, Shaanxi tomatoes should be planted as early as possible. There are mainly two seasons in a year, one is delayed cultivation after autumn, and seedling cultivation begins after July and August. They can be gradually launched in November. One is cultivated in early spring, with seedlings raised in November and February, and launched in May and June.
2. Planting time for autumn and winter crops
Autumn and winter crops are generally sown and nurtured from mid to late July to early August, and planted from mid to late August to early September. Cover the film from mid to late September to early October, and harvest from late November to early February of the following year.
3. Planting time for winter and spring crops
Winter and spring crops are sown from early November to early December, planted from mid to late January to early February of the following year, and harvested from early to mid March to June.
4. Planting time for overwintering crops
Winter crops belong to a large crop cultivation. Generally, seedlings are raised from mid to late September to early October, planted in November, and harvested in January of the following year.
