In recent years, the price of scallions has been relatively stable, and if the yield is high, the planting efficiency is also very good. However, some people have found that scallions have rotted roots during planting, greatly reducing their value and even causing economic losses to many growers. So, what about the rotten roots of scallions?
1. Control temperature
As mentioned earlier, improper temperature is also a cause of root rot in scallions. Therefore, when planting, we need to control the soil temperature well, promote the growth of scallions, improve their disease resistance, and avoid root rot.
Scallions prefer temperature, so when planting, the temperature should be controlled above 20 degrees Celsius, and then appropriate spraying of new high lipid films and other chemicals can improve the resistance of scallions.
After sowing, the soil can be appropriately covered with plastic film to improve its insulation capacity and prevent rapid temperature drop, which can affect the growth of scallions.
2. Reduce humidity
High soil moisture content is a major factor leading to root rot of scallions. After watering the field thoroughly, reduce the frequency and amount of watering. When there is a shortage of water, small drops of water should also be poured, and excessive watering should not be allowed.
When encountering rainy days, it is necessary to cover them appropriately and drain them in a timely manner after the rain stops. When the soil is sticky, it is necessary to evenly sprinkle grass and wood ash in the field to neutralize and reduce humidity.
3. Improve permeability
The root capacity of scallions is poor. When planting, it is necessary to choose relatively soft and transparent sandy soil, and apply sufficient decomposed farmhouse fertilizer to improve the soil and enhance its buffering capacity. Improve soil ventilation and reduce root rot.
When topdressing, attention should be paid to the dosage and fertilization. Farm manure must be fully decomposed, otherwise the heat generated will burn the roots and cause root rot of scallions.
Also, pay attention to avoiding direct contact between the roots and fertilizers to prevent root burning.
