Watering timing for tomatoes

1

Tomatoes are a vegetable that likes water and has semi drought resistance. They prefer dry air and are afraid of excessive humidity in the air. So, when is it more suitable to water tomatoes?

Watering timing for tomatoes

(1) Tomatoes should be watered while planting. After watering the planting water, the slow seedling water should be watered again 3 days later, and then watered again when the first ear of fruit is sitting as big as the egg yolk. Tomatoes have smaller plants in the early stage of fruiting, lower leaf transpiration, fewer fruits, and lower ventilation. Generally, watering can be done every 7-10 days (with a smaller amount of water). As the tomato plant grows and develops, the number of fruits increases, ventilation increases, and transpiration increases. Therefore, the watering interval should be shortened and the watering amount should be increased. During the tomato harvest period, the soil should be kept moist to increase individual fruit weight.

(2) According to the growth trend, watering tomato plants with dark green, glossy and flat leaves, and stretched heart leaves is a sign of uniform and suitable water content. If tomato heart leaves shrink and do not expand, and the color of the leaves is strong green, and there is a slight drooping of the leaves on sunny days, it is a sign of water shortage. It is necessary to replenish water in a timely manner. If tomato heart leaves expand excessively, the leaves are large and thin, and the leaves spit too much water, it is a sign of excessive water content. Water control should be carried out to prevent excessive growth.

(3) The watering time for a day in the greenhouse should be in the morning on a sunny day during the early stage of tomato growth. After watering, it should be ventilated and dehumidified. It is not advisable to water in the afternoon, evening, or rainy days, otherwise it may cause excessive humidity in the greenhouse and cause diseases such as downy mildew; It is not advisable to water at noon to avoid affecting the physiological function of tomato roots during high temperatures.

In the middle and later stages of tomato growth, the weather is hot. The greenhouse can be ventilated day and night with strong winds, and watering in the morning and evening can help cool down.

(4) Tomatoes should be watered during the fruit harvest period to increase their commercial value.

Watering time for tomatoes

(1) Lightly irrigate and slow down the seedlings of tomatoes. After planting in the greenhouse, the water requirement for slow down seedlings is not high, and a relatively moist and loose soil is required, but it should not be too dry to affect slow down seedlings; Therefore, watering seedlings should generally be lightly watered once every 7 days after planting, and timely cultivation should be carried out to increase temperature.

(2) Small watering of flowering water will strengthen the initial growth of tomatoes in the greenhouse, while entering the reproductive growth period. At this time, it is necessary to keep the soil moist to meet the needs of flowering; Therefore, depending on the degree of soil drought, small amounts of water should be watered once, as excessive water can easily cause branches and leaves to grow excessively.

(3) Pour sufficient water to promote fruit growth. When the first ear of tomatoes in the greenhouse reaches a diameter of about 1 centimeter, it begins to enter the peak growth period, especially after dipping 2,4-D into the flowers, the water requirement increases. At this time, it is necessary to water thoroughly to promote fruit expansion and avoid stiff fruit.

(4) Frequently watering with fruit water. When tomatoes grow from the first ear to the size of an egg in a greenhouse, and the second ear to a diameter of 1 centimeter, the water requirement is even greater. At this time, it is necessary to frequently water to keep the soil moist. Generally, it is necessary to water thoroughly every 3-5 days to prevent hollow or deformed fruits from appearing.
