As a favorite food for everyone, sweet potatoes are grown all over the country. However, if you want to make sweet potatoes grow well and yield high, it is really not possible without some technology and experience. So, how to improve the quality of sweet potato cultivation?
1. Inverted planting
First cut off 2-3 segments of late sweet potato seedlings, and then cut them into segments according to each of the 4 segments. Cut off the petioles and leaves of the two segments above each segment, keeping the petioles and leaves of the two segments below, and plant them upside down on the ridge to leave a petiole base exposed to the ridge surface. The seedling spacing is generally about 15 centimeters.
Although the growth of upside down sweet potatoes is slower than that of upside down sweet potatoes, due to the reversal of the direction in which the conducting tissue in the stem transports water and organic matter to the root, the transportation speed is slowed down. As a result, a large amount of organic nutrients are accumulated at the root, which is conducive to the expansion of the potato block and can increase the yield by more than 50%.
2. Decapitation
When the main stem of the sweet potato grows to 40-50 centimeters that night, pick the top buds in the morning on a sunny day. When the branch grows to 30-35 centimeters, continue to remove the terminal buds. It can inhibit the overgrowth of stems and vines, avoid nutrient consumption, promote root swelling, and increase yield by 20-30%.
3. Fissure fertilization
In the late stage of sweet potato tuber expansion, cracks will appear in the topsoil layer. At this time, 750 to 1000 kilograms of clear water manure and 500 grams of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (5 kilograms of superphosphate and 50 kilograms of plant ash can also be soaked and filtered, respectively) are used for every 667 square meters of manure. They are mixed in the fecal water, irrigated along the cracks in the morning or evening, and then filled with soil after application, which can increase production by 20 to 30%.
