According to a report on the website of the Lianhe Zaobao of Singapore on April 22, at a time when China EU trade relations are becoming increasingly tense, the European Commission in charge of agricultural affairs said that the European Union will increase its agricultural food exports to China.
The Lianhe Zaobao quoted Reuters news agency as saying that the European Union Commissioner Janus Wojchhovsky, who was visiting China this week, said in an interview in Shanghai on the 22nd that his focus is to increase agricultural food exports to China and ensure that food trade is not affected by the intensification of trade tensions between China and Europe.
Wojchekhovsky said, "There are no trade barriers to Chinese food imports," and he will "try to avoid agriculture paying the price for problems in other fields, which sometimes occur.".
The report states that unlike industries such as solar panels and new energy vehicles, the EU's agricultural and food industry maintains an export surplus in trade with China.
Wojchekhovsky also said that there is still room for growth in the EU's exports of agricultural food to China, including a range of foods such as poultry, pork, beef, and dairy products that have a relatively high penetration rate in the Chinese market. "We can see that more and more consumers in China are pursuing high-quality food, which provides opportunities for European food companies to increase exports.".
