Xinhua News Agency, Ankara, June 10- On the 10th, the Competition Commission of Türkiye fined Google of the United States 482 million lira (about 14.8 million US dollars) for failing to fulfill its obligations related to hotel search.
The committee stated in a statement that Google is preventing other search engine competitors from entering its local hotel accommodation price ranking service.
As part of the anti-monopoly investigation launched by Google, the committee decided on March 21 this year to monitor Google for three months to assess whether its hotel accommodation price search algorithm violated Türkiye's fair competition regulations. Subsequently, the agency announced a temporary administrative fine on Google until it fulfills its obligations regarding local hotel search services.
The statement also said that since May 21, the temporary administrative fine imposed on Google by the Türkiye Competition Commission has been suspended.
