Guadalajara, Jalisco, October 3, 2024.- This year, Mexico has established itself as the fourth largest mango producer in the world with 2.2 million tons, thanks to the certified quality of the product. Therefore, Empacadoras de Mango de Exportación AC (EMEX), representative of Mexican mango, will hold its 4th International Mango Producers and Exporters Congress in Guadalajara in November.

The company Emex, AC, says that it will be a meeting point for producers to be at the forefront of technology and information on this important product, an event that will be attended by leaders of the sector and will be a great opportunity for producers to learn about the advantages of exporting.

The event, which will be held from 21 to 22 November, will feature keynote lectures by international experts, and interested parties will be able to contact professionals and industry leaders to create new business opportunities.

In the exhibition area, participants will be able to appreciate the latest technological innovations to keep up to date with new cutting-edge technology for the cultivation and processing of tropical fruit.

GREAT PRODUCER

In the last days of September, Mexican mango exports to the United States concluded, to which Emex sent approximately 62.4 million boxes of fruit with hydrothermal quarantine treatment.

Mexico achieved a record by producing 2.2 million tons of fruit from fruit fly-free zones, where mangoes are free to be exported without quarantine treatment, including products with irradiation treatment.

Currently, the main markets to which Mexican fruit is exported are the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, due to the high quality of Mexican mango, produced mainly in Sinaloa, Nayarit and Oaxaca, with Jalisco as the seventh producer.

The varieties most produced in the country are Ataúlfo (30%), Manila (15%), Kent (15%), Tommy Atkins (14%), Haden (9%), Criollo (7%) and other diverse varieties have a production of 11 percent.

According to Emex, the main challenges facing the mango agroindustry in Mexico are insufficient labor, increased mechanization in the fields, support, training and organization, as well as a fair price for the harvest.
