The Provincial Meteorological Observatory issued a cold wave and strong wind warning. The cold air is expected to affect Jiangsu from north to south. From the night of the 5th to the day of the 6th, northerly winds of magnitude 9-10 will appear in the offshore waters of Lianyungang, Yancheng, and Nantong. This cold wave and strong wind may have a great impact on autumn harvest and autumn planting, livestock and poultry production, aquaculture, and the safety of fishing boats and fishermen at sea. The Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs reminds all localities to take practical and effective measures to actively respond to the cold wave weather and ensure the safety of agricultural production.
The Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs requires agricultural and rural departments in all regions to take the word "grab" as the top priority, strengthen the dispatch of agricultural machinery, improve operational efficiency, speed up harvesting in good weather, and ensure that autumn grain grains are returned to warehouses. Adhere to harvesting and sowing one by one, promote autumn sowing with high quality, increase the proportion of sowing at the right time and with the right moisture, improve sowing quality, and lay a solid foundation for next summer's mature and bumper harvest. In terms of livestock and poultry production, farmers are guided to strengthen the investigation of potential safety hazards, strengthen and maintain infrastructure such as livestock and poultry sheds, promptly repair insulation, heating, oxygenation, water supply and other equipment, and implement measures to prevent cold waves. Guide farmers to scientifically arrange production, maintain a reasonable pace of slaughter and marketing, and stabilize the production of pigs and other livestock and poultry products. Strengthen feeding and management, appropriately increase the proportion of energy feed, and enhance the ability of livestock and poultry to prevent cold and keep warm. In terms of aquaculture, aquaculture entities are guided to strengthen daily management of aquatic products in ponds, increase pond inspections, maintain appropriate water levels in breeding ponds, maintain ponds and pond ridges, and reduce the incidence of low-temperature diseases.
